Free Work Order Template

A clean, print-ready work order for service contractors. Hand to your tech in the morning; collect it signed at the end of the job.

Why work orders matter

A work order is the bridge between dispatch and invoice. Done well, it gives you:

  • A record of what actually happened. When a customer calls in 6 months saying "this is the same problem," you have notes from last time.
  • Customer signoff. The customer signed off on the work being completed satisfactorily — that's a defense if a payment dispute happens.
  • Material and labor capture for invoicing. The tech writes down what they used and how long they were on site. The office turns that into an invoice without retyping.
  • Future-job context. Equipment serial, refrigerant type, last service date — all the details next visit's tech needs.

When paper isn't enough

Paper work orders work for solo techs and small shops. As you scale past 3-4 techs, the back-office cost of typing paper into invoices and customer history starts to dominate. Field-service software like CrewConductor lets the tech fill out a digital work order on their phone — same fields, but the data flows directly into the invoice and customer record.
